After straightening my room up, I decided to sit and knit for a while. This is the lapghan I am making for my mother’s cousin. The pattern is ten rows of garter, twenty rows of yarn over, purl two together and ten rows of garter for each color. The colors will be pink, purple, pale pink/white striped, blue and pink. The yarn I am using is mostly Lion Brand Homespun, but will elaborate on the final entry for this project. The name of this project – Cousins by Vampire Weekend – is an ideal choice, considering our relation.
As it’s Labor Day, mom planned a family dinner: Lobster, Carne Asada, Tri Tip, Corn on the Cob, Pico de Gallo, Chocolate Cake, Green Salad, Bean Salad, Fruit Salad, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Red Salsa. I worked on the lapghan until dinner time. I’M STUFFED!
On a totally different subject, I couldn’t get over the rudeness of my family members (siblings and their children), who immediately after dinner buried their faces in their cell phones. Disgusting! My mom and dad went to great lengths and cost and deserve some after dinner conversation without cell phones. To me that is the height – nowadays – of disrespect.
