What Are You Working On?

I am working on The Girl From Ipanema Goes To Greenland Shawlette. This shawlette will be made form Arucania Patagonia Nature Cotton in Color: 202.

I am really liking the softness of the cotton, combined with the same sensation yesterday working on some Russian Bargello techniques. For my Russian Bargello, I only have 300 mg of cotton: Patons Grace in Color 60409 Ruby , Mondial Cotton Soft Speciale Baby in Color 200 Black, and an unknown cotton left over from Pink Elephant. I am thinking I will use this sample as a pillow cover.

And I need to find another pattern for Mini Mikey’s booties because the one I was using – “Crochet Baby Booties – GREEN ZEBRA by Croby Patterns” – was poorly written. I thought it seemed familiar to another pattern I had crocheted in the past for Eve’s twins: Crochet wrap around button infant boots- girls and boys by Ashlee Prisbrey. It kills me how people can copy other people’s work; I am highly skeptical that two pattern would be created in the exact same manner. Whatever! I’m not in it.

Black or White Scarf

About The Scarf

Project Name: Black or White by Michael Jackson
It should be obvious, no? I love this song, which at times has brought me to tears.

“I’m not going to spend my life being a color”

Dimensions: 66 (L) x 5 (W) inches.

Yarn: Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable

Fiber Content: 100% Acrylic
Yarn Colors: 01040 Black & 01005 White
Yarn Weight: 4, Worsted

Design Notes

My crochet hound’s tooth stitch development has been a regressive process from the beginning because I finally made a scarf in the recommended hound’s tooth stitch pattern – Griddle Stitch – and now I see it!

I will be presenting all four scarves to the recipient and let him choose which one he likes best; the three that are left will go into inventory.

The work up of this scarf was very quick as I only had to change color every row, alleviating additional yarn twisting.

And now…back to work on the eBook: Hound’s Tooth & Beyond.

About Hound Dog Scarf

Hound Dog Scarf is not a reversible pattern, as you’ll notice via quick jaunt through the small gallery for which Mergatroid gladly modeled.

Dimensions: 66 (L) x 5(‘W) inches

Fabric Content: 100% Acrylic

Use & Care: Machine washable and dryable. Do not bleach, iron, or dry clean.

Project Name: Hound Dog by Elvis Presley
The project name should be an obvious relation to this project which revolves around Hound’s Tooth crochet stitch patterns.

Designer Notes

This is the pattern, from my original post, on which tahlenri commented,

Open Quotation MarkI think your crocheted modified granite stitch was pretty convincing in yellow and violet.”

I’d have to agree with tahlenri, though I still might explore a little more. I have also crocheted some swatches with even different stitch pattern effects, but I digress.

The stitch pattern is a proprietary secret still, but I can tell you that it is based on a staggered griddle stitch. I like it because it is bigger, more staggered than the traditional griddle stitch suggestion.

I’ve Got You Under My Skin Scarf

I've Got You Under My Skin Scarf

This is my second attempt at fine tuning the griddle stitch into a hound’s tooth pattern. Once again, I missed my original intention, but accidentally, and logically, crocheted out of pattern and came up with this stitch pattern, which, unlike Flock of Seagulls Scarf pattern, is not reversible. Still, I am determined to get a better hound’s tooth and through this iteration I have seen the error of my ways.

Again, this pattern is primarily a stitch pattern for advanced crocheters that are comfortable with carrying yarn and changing colors. I am indicating what I used to make my scarf, but please note this stitch pattern is flexible and may be used with any weight yarn and made to any size.

In this iteration, I have mirrored the stitch pattern, which has caused a different stitch pattern on each side: one side is Escher-esque in pattern and the other side resembles a hound’s tooth variation.

This scarf – measuring 60 (L) x 5 (W) inches – took four days to complete and is closer to my new default scarf size: 66 (L) x 4 (W) inches. I have purposefully blurred by detail shots to protect stitch definition – images are focused within the pattern. Again, I have used Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable (Fiber Content: 100% Acrylic; Yarn Colors: 01040 Black and 01005 White; Yarn Weight: 4, Worsted).

The project name – I’ve Got You Under My Skin by Dinah Washington – comes from the fact that I still have hound’s tooth under my skin and hopefully, will not have any more brain farts before the next iteration.

Holiday In Cambodia Shawl

Holiday In Cambodia Shawl

I started this project back on March 28, 2017 and just finished today, May 6, 2017. I knew I wanted to make a rectangular shawl and decided to keep it simple using single crochets in combination with treble crochets in a pattern. I also knew I would want to add fringe at either end.

The yarn is was from a cone whose origins are forgotten. Per a burn test the yarn turned out to be a natural fiber. At the time, and based on the texture of the yarn, I was leaning towards cotton/linen in maybe a thread or fingering weight. Now that I have washed it – which I do not recommend for future care – I noticed that my fringe began to felt together despite placing the item in a laundry bag. This plus the texture of the washed yarn, leads me to believe it might be wool now. The yarn bloomed into about a sport/dk weight and is so soft.

The project name – Holiday In Cambodia by The Dead Kennedys – is representative of the colors in the yarn. The measurements of the shawl are 59 (L) x 23 (W); 70 (L), including the fringe. I would like to sell this piece for USD $75.00.
