Avoiding the issue for two days, I finally set forth to tinking what I thought would be over two hundred stitches over five rows. Turned out it was only three rows down, having already knocked out two rows while waiting on computer, internet connection and FarmVille.
Yay! I will knock this out after this post and then hopefully knit until I reach the lace section.
Oh, and I have named this project: Over The Rainbow by Judy Garland. Being gay and having named the yarn after me, I couldn’t have thought of a more appropriate name and am lucky that I had not used it already.
Yarn: Unknown (Fiber Content: Unknown [natural fiber, per burn test]). In its natural state, it appear like a dk cotton, but once I cast on, I could feel an elasticity and it feels like polyester. Anyway, I started on US 6 needles because I thought it was a dk weight. it would be light enough for the airy shawl design…wish I had some beads for weight.
Because I am not familiar with the pattern, this will be my home pattern for right now. I think the pattern will be easy to memorize and I should be able to move along quickly.
I noticed an error in the first row and contacted the pattern writer. I was shocked that despite her inability to knit at present, she corrected her PDf and sent me notification. Very impressive!
Now that I have been forced into retirement, I can finally be anal about my blog posting, as I have plenty of time now…and I am loving ever moment despite the interruptions that might occur. Like broken needles, forcing Over the Rainbow into hibernation until I can get new ones. An email inquiry has already been sent to my vendor, FoxyKnits. I am await a reply.
Because I have more time, I have time for ultrasounds of the baby before it is done. I don’t remember how I acquired this yarn: Universal Yarns Wisdom Yarns Naked Sock (93% Acrylic, 7% PBT [is that peanut butter and tuna? Eek! acually…] Polybutylene terephthalate), but it is perfect for 5 Basic Shawl Shapes Cheat Sheet by Derya Davenport as I can just keep knitting until I have no more and I think approximately 940 yards on size US 4 needles should be enough for a decent neck/shoulder accessory…definitely enough for a nice facial accent with its bright colors. The yarn is soft and I think I am detecting a bit of elasticity.
The name Over The Rainbow by Judy Garland is an obvious complement to the color of the yarn, technically: 101 Trapeze.
