A friend asked me to make her a doily to set under the vase on her dining room table. I figured I could whip this up real quick, so I set to crocheting yesterday. Unfortunately, what should have been done in one day took two because of the extreme humidity and heat we have been experiencing; using too small a hook didn’t help. I am not sure what happened – most likely tension – but I am not crazy that the fan tails (the beginning portion, extending from the center; they look smooshed. I am also not crazy about the jog-space in the center. The pattern is well written, but those treble crochet clusters got old fast.

I love pineapples; that’s why I picked this pattern. The project name – Pineapple Princess by Annette Funicello – should be obvious.
