On da Hook: Don’t remember Off da Hook: July 20, 2013 Recipe:I Only Have Eyes For You Scarf Yarn:Schachenmayr nomotta Salsa (Fiber Content: 100% Polyester; Yarn Color: Unknown; Yarn Weight: 4, Aran) Hook: US I – 5.5 mm Dimensions: Forgot to measure before donating
I obtained this yarn for free from Peggy. I just love the color and I thought it would make a nice scarf. I was going to make it longer, but at the guild meeting this past weekend I discovered that there are no size restrictions, so ended it before joining a third skein, sewed in the ends, had Parmesaner (isn’t she a cutie-patootie?) model it for me and turned it in as a donation to Handmade Especially For You. I really like this scarf. I wish I could wear one, but with my heat sensitivity issues, it would not be so pretty for so long.
Due to our – what I presume to be – fake mutual crushes, I chose to name the project I Only Have Eyes For You by The Flamingos.

After doing a lot of short row test knitting for BananaKnits, I was curious if there was such a think as crochet short rows. With the concept firmly implanted in my head I set forth. I had some difficulty at first because I kept forgetting to “seal the short rows.” Once I remembered that key instruction, I was golden. However, I wanted to make this pattern a little different so I created a special stitch – Single Crochet Bar Front Loop – which I am just loving for it’s texture, and I think actually complements the gradient in the yarn.

At the guild Saturday, I discovered that The Curse of the Grandmother was not done with me yet. I noticed that one of the squares I had attached already had a mistake which was affecting the border. Aiyaa. Having nothing else to work on, I sauntered over to the scarf donations table and found a skein that I really liked: Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable.
I set to creating the scarf in filet crochet style as that is what I have been working on with The Curse of the Grandmother. It took a moment to get the right number of stitches for the foundation chain, but once that was achieve, it only took overnight to finish.
