Purple Haze Cowl

Project Name: Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix

I like this one better than Deep Purple Cowl because the stripes are better defined and closer to the design in my mind. This will be the birthday gift for my friend from first grade instead of the Deep Purple Cowl. I am thinking the person for whom I am knitting this cowl, will not even notice the difference, but out of honesty I will give full disclosure, reducing the price if necessary. I don’t think it will be a problem, as the customer saw the first one and loved that one also.

Yarn A: Lion Brand Color Waves (Fiber Content: 83% Acrylic, 17% Polyester; Yarn Color: 347 Purple Vista; Yarn Weight: 5, Bulky)
Yarn B: Thread (Fiber Content: Unknown; Yarn Color: Unknown [Purple]; Yarn Weight: n/a)
Needle Size: US 10

I really liked the Lion Brand Color Waves for it’s softness, cushiness and color runs. Too bad it has been discontinued.

This is how this cowl started out, but I thought this purple was too bright and overpowering.

I could not find a deeper purple worsted in my stash, but came across some thread in the perfect color. I double-stranded the thread and I was liking the more muted highlights. The deeper purple really compliments the shifting hues in the Lion Brand Color Waves.

Project name – Deep Purple by The Osmonds – is related to the color of this project, is a reference to my youth and my first grade friend, the recipient of this gift.
