Rag Mop

“Doo-doo-doo-DAH-dee-ah-dah…

The Name

Rag Mop by Ames Brothers

I had named this project Rag Mop due to the fact that it was crocheted from scrap/unlabeled yarns. I can’t remember how I was familiarized with this song, but I remember from my youth!

The Afghan

By this time, I had moved back to California, August 27, 2007, after fifteen years of trying to make it on my own. Had I know about “geographics” before I moved, I could’ve foreseen my failure.

When I finished it happened to be about the time of my godmother’s birthday: November 5. This was a fine opportunity for me to finally return a birthday gift to her.

The Yarn

I can’t even remember where I obtained the yarn to make Rag Mop! From the look of it, I know it was made from scraps, but I have no record of creating anything prior to this, in California. A closer look at my family probably reveals the source: yard sales. My presumption is that the yarns were all acrylics of worsted weight because I didn’t even know about other yarn weights yet.

NOTE: My computer has the image dated 2007, but the time stamp on the image is 2008.
