Little Boy Blue

The Name

Little Boy Blue was given this project, as it is an afghan for an arriving baby boy to my cousin Michael and his wife. What better title than a nursery rhyme.

The Afghan

Pattern: Granny Ripple Afghan by Janet Jarosh
The Hook: US H/8 – 5.0 mm

I just found the pattern in the Wayback Machine. It was originally retried from Project Linus.

The Yarn

Bernat Baby Coordinates Solids & Ombres
Colors: White & Sailor Stripes; Content: 71% Acrylic, 26% Rayon/Viscose, 3% Nylon/Polyamide; Weight: 3-DK

I remember I did not like the yarn becaause of the shiny thread twisted with the yarn. It would catch on the hook while trying to pass. Later learned yarn crochets better with Susan Bates Crochet hooks.

Looking back, I can see how the use of an H-hook with the DK yarn made the crochet look wonky. Lesson learned!
