This is a gift I made for the first friend I reconnected with upon my return to California…it only took nine years for me to realize I could use my stitching talents to gift my dearest friends/family. I now maintain a gift list!

The recipient indicated her favorite color was lavender and a cowl would be the item most used. Woohoo! I had a cone of Newton’s Yarn Country Brushed Acrylic on US 6 needles…or was it US 5 needles? The target size was 6 x 34.5 (D); after washing the cowl measures 7
x 37 (D).

I am surprised by the color change in the post images. The image above and those following were photographed in full sunlight, while the first two were photographed in the shade. I was under the assumption that sun/direct light would show “true” color…apparently not, as the cowl is closer in color to the first two images…well, at least, in my vibrant opinion.

At the time I began this project, I had encountered the Flowers In A Row. My cowl is literally “nothing but flowers,” as you can tell from the detail image below. Some of the modifications I made to the stitch are: knit only, no spacing between flower rows, and staggered flowers.

Well, I hope she enjoys this birthday-turned-xmas gift, named – (Nothing But) Flowers by Talking Heads – because of the stitch used!
