The Name

Gypsy Woman by Crystal Waters

The Bag

Dimensions: 20 x 19 inches
Made For: Felting Test
On The Needles: December 14, 2018-April 23, 2020
Needle Size: US 11

I started this bag as a means to use up some super bulky wool scraps. The concept for the bag is completely improvised. Garter stitch used for entirety.

Technically, the bag was not on the needles for the duration. I held it aside until I finished Brother Can You Spare A Dime so I could felt them together. I had planned on completing Like A Prayer, as well, but forgot about it before wash/felt time.

I had plans on donating this to one of the El Segundo Slipt Stitchers charities, but because of the hole, it’s more likely Gypsy Woman may be discarded. How ironic!

I am considering this project a failure, as the stitching did not felt. After washing on hot, twice, I had noticed that lack of felting and threw it into the dryer with my crocs and Brother Can You Spare A Dime. Still no noticeable felting.

The Yarns

Bucilla Rug Wool
Color: 136; Content: 100% Wool; Weight: Super Bulky

Cascade Nicki
Color: 32404; Content: 100% Wool; Weight: Super Bulky

I am pretty sure the white wool is Brown Sheep Company Lamb’s Pride Bulky. The light blue could be Woolhaus, as I remember seeing the yarn in The Knitting Tree when I worked there.

That hole is where the Cascade Nicki – a thin/thick ply – apparently was too thin. Viewing my felting as a failure, I don’t think I’ll fix the hole.
