Don’t Stop Me Now

The Name

Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen

Happened to be playing when I started recording this skully.

The Skully

Actual Dimensions: 7 (W) x 6 (H) inches
Pattern Dimensions: 15-16” (C); 6” (H), 3-6 Months
Pattern: Emma Beanie by Ashley Leither

I got the height right if I was supposed to measure from the top of the head versus the last increase round, but the circumference I ended up with should fit a tween (11-12 year old). Not a fan of her patterns using a J-hook with worsted weight. Pattern is well written, minus measuring definitions.

Caron Simply Soft*

Unknown Turquoise
Color: Succulent**; Content: 100% Acrylic; Weight: 4, Worsted

I Shall Believe

The Name

I Shall Believe by Sheryl Crow

This is an appropriate name for a hat I improvised the design. I shall believe that I will figure this out.

I Shall Believe

The Beanie

Size: 0-3 months
Destination: Charity

42_small_best_fitI was going for something similar to the one pictured at right. I think my primary mistake was building the crown in double crochet; I feel like maybe I should’ve used Half double crochet. This hat has a weird fit.

While my hat does measure 6-inches high with a rounded crown, I am going to classify the size as 0-3 months based on How to Size Crochet Beanies + Chart by Heart Hook Home.

I Shall Believe

The Yarn

The yarn for this project is unknown. I had the same yarn on two different cones with different information. Because it was so thin and I wanted to rid myself of it, I double stranded.

Balloon Man

The Name

Balloon Man by Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians

The perfect name for this balloon-stitch hat.

Balloon Man

The Hat

Dimensions: 11-inch height, medium, female adult
Pattern: Balloon Stitch Slouch Hat by Nana’s Crafty Home
Destination: Charity

Nice textured hat, involving front and back post double crochets. I am not a fan of the construction, bottom up, like a knit hat. I am sure it could be adjusted, but I am moving on.

I had the hardest time keeping track of the row count, basing my hat by comparing mine to the one pictured on the website: three balloons is the same height. I am also foregoing the pom-pom, as the hat is for charity, I don’t like making pom-poms, and I believe paying for transportation to buy a pom-pom is ridiculous.

Again, this color is very hard to capture in photography.

The Name

There But For The Grace Of God by Machine

One of my all-time favorites!

The Skully

Size: Adult, 22-24 circumference
Pattern: Simple Seed Stitch Beanie by Kirsten Holloway
Destination: Charity

Pattern easy to follow. Advanced techniques. Beautiful hat. Supposed to give mine to charity, but it fits so snug and looks so handsome and…

The Yarn

Unknown Green/Blue
Color: Faraway Dreams*; Content: Acrylic**; Weight: 4, Worsted***

Even without a label, some yarns you just know. This time I am pretty sure this yarn was Caron Simply Soft; I just did not want to call it because I don’t know if, by now, there may be a copy cat out there.

I’m Your Daddy

The Name

I’m Your Daddy by Weezer

Perfect name for a preemie baby skully.

The Skully

Dimensions: Preemie, based on  How To Size Crochet Beanies + Chart

Based on a Standard Double-Crochet circle crown.

The Yarn

Unknown Red
Color: I’m Your Daddy*; Content: Unknown; Weight: Bulky

It had a bulky feel, so I used a US J Hook; it is so soft and furry.

Help!

The Name

Help! by The Beatles

Random song title selection. Ironically, I did not need much, if any, help.

The Skully Tail

Dimensions: 9 (W) x 6.5 (H) inches
Destination: Charity

I improvised this design; I only hope the hole is not too big. I only missed two rounds of double crochet, otherwise standard crochet beanie design.

Interestingly, I discovered this hat has a name: Beanie Tail, but in my world Skully Tail.

The Yarn

Unknown Pink
Color: Baby Girl*; Content: Acrylic**; Weight: 4, Worsted***
