The Hat

Size: Toddler!
Destination: Charity

As I approach mental block, I improvised a matching hat for Baby, You’re Mine. The designer of Ophrys cowl, on which Baby, You’re Mine is based, showed a matching hat on her blog. One look and I knew it was another gather-top; not a fan.

I didn’t know how to pass the crown increases with the Glover Stitch, so I used single crochet. Unfortunately, I made my crown smaller than I had aimed. Oh well, they are going to charity and there’s no guarantee they’ll stay together.

The Cowl

Dimensions: 11 (W) x 9.5 (H) inches
Pattern: Ophrys Cowl by Jenniefer Andersson
Destination: Charity

Found this pattern by going to the last search page on Ravelry and paging backwards. I like the texture, and then was more pleased to learn it was a new stitch: Glover Stitch. Despite, my crocheting the stitch wrong, I still like it.

I just picked up on the fact that Ravelry classifies this yarn as aran; highly doubtful on my part. I am pretty sure the other is a Cascade Pacific yarn; in the my mind I can picture it in the store I used to work in. I just could not match color on their website.

Don’t Stop Me Now

The Name

Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen

Happened to be playing when I started recording this skully.

The Skully

Actual Dimensions: 7 (W) x 6 (H) inches
Pattern Dimensions: 15-16” (C); 6” (H), 3-6 Months
Pattern: Emma Beanie by Ashley Leither

I got the height right if I was supposed to measure from the top of the head versus the last increase round, but the circumference I ended up with should fit a tween (11-12 year old). Not a fan of her patterns using a J-hook with worsted weight. Pattern is well written, minus measuring definitions.

Balloon Man

The Name

Balloon Man by Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians

The perfect name for this balloon-stitch hat.

Balloon Man

The Hat

Dimensions: 11-inch height, medium, female adult
Pattern: Balloon Stitch Slouch Hat by Nana’s Crafty Home
Destination: Charity

Nice textured hat, involving front and back post double crochets. I am not a fan of the construction, bottom up, like a knit hat. I am sure it could be adjusted, but I am moving on.

I had the hardest time keeping track of the row count, basing my hat by comparing mine to the one pictured on the website: three balloons is the same height. I am also foregoing the pom-pom, as the hat is for charity, I don’t like making pom-poms, and I believe paying for transportation to buy a pom-pom is ridiculous.

Again, this color is very hard to capture in photography.
