Trism

The Name

Trism by The B-52’s

I am going to The B-52’s concert in October, and if it’s not too hot, I can wear to the concert. Trism is one of my favorite songs.

The Scarf

Dimensions: approximately 74-inch length x 4-inch width

The scarf began from a bag o’ scarps I acquired somewhere. The bag also included black and white, but I did not have any fun fur in that color. Would’ve been nice to begin with one and end with the other. Oh well. The yellow was a final addition, forcing me to search my stash for both acrylic and fun fur in yellow, as well as the green fun fur and additional light light blue acrylic yarn.

The Yarn

Schachenmayr nomotta Brazilia Lungo

Content: 100% Polyester
Color: 222
Weight: ?

Lion Brand Wool-Ease

Color: Purple 147
Content: 80% Acrylic, 20% Wool
Weight: 4,Worsted

All other yarns (Pink fur, Pink standard, Light Neon Blue standard, Green standard, Dark Yellow fur, Off-White fur, Yellow fur, Yellow standard,) are unknown, but I presume the standard yarns to be acrylics and the furs to be polyester like the Schachenmayr.

Little Bit O’ Soul

Name

Little Bit O’ Soul by Music Explosion

Little Bit O’ Soul facilitated stitch development this time and – to me – relates to the meditative feelings from true prayer, and prayer let me to that feeling when it comes from your soul…joy!

Little Bit O' Soul

Project

As Like A Prayer and Church Of The Poison Mind are officially hibernating – one due to misplacement; the other due to lack of yarn to finish. So, as this is my third attempt at – what I have coined a prayer shawl: rectangular shawl/wrap with a repeating pattern; I added the repeating pattern part myself – I figured this was my chance to finally and actually finish a prayer shawl.

Dimensions: 14-inch width x 80-inch length (98-inch length)
Care: Recommendation is for dry cleaning, as fiber content is technically unknown.+ Suggested care would be cold hand wash, gently. Lay out or hang to dry.++

Little Bit O' Soul

Yarn

Thomas Hodgson and Sons Inc, Suncook

Color: 8 Mauve
Content: Natural Fiber, per burn test
Weight: Unknown

This cone magically reappeared in my stash. This time I would finish a prayer shawl because I know I had enough yarn now and because I have changed my attitude towards my stash and just grab what’s next just to get rid of all this yarn.

Highway To Hell: Arrived!

Name

Highway To Hell by AC/DC

Criminy! I have been writing this post as a first post for a new project I started today, having forgotten the project I finished today and for which I had been awaiting a sew job by mother, which she finished. I had photographed, measured and BRAIN FART!

Name pertains to hibernation and frogging of Stairway To Heaven, and going in another direction a la Highway To Hell, the primrose path. Highway To Hell also refers to the challenge of knitting with yarn so slippery it does not knot, on slippery needles. Fortunately, I that did not happen at all.

Crocodile Tears Afghan

Crocodile Tears Afghan

About The Name

Crocodile Tears by Eydie Gorme

I had a hard time reconciling a song title to this project when I began back on May 26, 2018. I had settled on Samba de Orfeu because the color of the primary yarn reminded me of a verdant island celebration, like Carnaval!

Beginning May 29, I started a crying jag that has only complicated my allergies, leaving me completely congested and on the verge of tears with the smallest associations I make throughout each day. As such, I searched for a song titled Crocodile Tears and found on by Eydie Gorme that perked me up.

About Crocodile Tears Afghan

To be honest I had no idea what to make anymore that I am no longer attempting sales. Luckily, I had been to the guild the week previous and got some ideas about what is needed for charity. While it is not afghan size, I believe there are some children in need also. And finally, I could work from the center, outward until the yarn had been exhausted, and I was left with only about a six-inch leftover!

Dimensions: 36 inches square, approximately

The Sound Of Philadelphia Cowl

The Sound Of Philadelphia Cowl

About The Name

TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia) by MFSB

This yarn crocheted into a pattern that reminds me of the cobblestone streets of Philadelphia.

TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)
TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)

About TSOP

There is no pattern…improvised. Foundation chain of twenty on a J hook. Row 1 for each ball of yarn was double crochet, followed by single crochet. Ended with a slip stitch seam.

I could add a border, but I thing without a “fun” border, the cowl is more unisex in design.

About The Yarn

Unknown Yarn

Fiber Content: Man-made, per burn test
Color: Multicolor, including off-white, dark grey, copper, moss green.*
Weight: 5, Bulky+

It reminded me of Lion Brand Homespun, so I looked up their tool recommendations and used that to select my hook size. The yarn works up well on a Susan Bates hook, used because of the thread used to contain the ply.
