Trism

The Name

Trism by The B-52’s

I am going to The B-52’s concert in October, and if it’s not too hot, I can wear to the concert. Trism is one of my favorite songs.

The Scarf

Dimensions: approximately 74-inch length x 4-inch width

The scarf began from a bag o’ scarps I acquired somewhere. The bag also included black and white, but I did not have any fun fur in that color. Would’ve been nice to begin with one and end with the other. Oh well. The yellow was a final addition, forcing me to search my stash for both acrylic and fun fur in yellow, as well as the green fun fur and additional light light blue acrylic yarn.

The Yarn

Schachenmayr nomotta Brazilia Lungo

Content: 100% Polyester
Color: 222
Weight: ?

Lion Brand Wool-Ease

Color: Purple 147
Content: 80% Acrylic, 20% Wool
Weight: 4,Worsted

All other yarns (Pink fur, Pink standard, Light Neon Blue standard, Green standard, Dark Yellow fur, Off-White fur, Yellow fur, Yellow standard,) are unknown, but I presume the standard yarns to be acrylics and the furs to be polyester like the Schachenmayr.

Deep Sleep Afghan

Deep Sleep Afghan

Name

Deep Sleep by The B-52’s

Sleep > afghan…get it? Did I mention I am going to see The B-52’s in October at The Greek Theater with Diane?

Deep Sleep Afghan

Constructed in single crochet with an E hook, I was going to donate to charity as I had received the yarn for free from CSNanaCat. However, as I know of a baby coming into this world, and having completed the afghan way ahead of delivery date, I am going to send to my friend and his wife as a gift for their infant.

I was going to add a solid white border in chenille, as well, but my fellow fiber artists thought white me too much of a contrast. They finally got me to agree on a light/silver grey. However, I don’t know now. I am done and should leave well enough alone.

Dimensions: approximately 25.5 inches square

Yarn

Newton’s Yarn Country Chenille

Content: 10% Rayon
Care: Dry-clean or hand wash in cold with mild detergent. Air-dry.+

Having received this from CSNanaCat, I didn’t pay particular attention while cake-winding, but when I finally started the second hank, I noticed a difference in dye lots. Close up it’s less noticeable for all the colors, but in the picture a distinction is noticeable. Oh well!

+ Care is suggested care; laundry care not on yarn label.

The Girl From Ipanema Goes To Greenland Shawlette

About The Project

Dimensions: 56 (W) x 13 (D) inches

It’s a miracle I had enough yarn for this project and that it came out to a decent size because not until I finished did I realize the yarn I used was bulky, not worsted. I knitted the project on US 8 needles because I thought the yarn was worsted weight. I 💚 this project.

About The Pattern

Garden View Shawlette by Tracey Withanee

💚💚💚 Easy to follow, by the middle section I was on auto-pilot, which of course caused a few row tinks and stitch adjustments.

Cast On: May 3, 2015
Yarn A: A Hooker’s World Hand-Dyed Merino Superwash (Yarn Color: The Painted Desert) a la Newton’s Yarn Country Merino Superwash (Fiber Content: 100% Merino Wool; Yarn Color: Unknown [Natural]; Yarn Weight: 4, Worsted)
Yarn B: Unknown (Fiber Content: !00% Wool; Yarn Color: Unknown [Mint Green]; Yarn Weight: 4, Worsted)
Needle: US 9

This project name started with the yarn cakes, which reminded me of succulents, leading to The Painted Desert by 10,000 Maniacs.

A quick look at my stash revealed a bunch of the mint green color I had stashed away, more than enough to equal the 10.3 oz of The Painted Desert I ended up with. I knit this stitch pattern in It’s My Life Shawl and loved the definition. My first “impressions” are of an english garden, but I think I’ve used all my garden song names previously. Next I thought green and The Girl From Ipanema Goes To Greenland by the B-52’s. Love them!

I could not wait to show you how it’s coming along and share my vision: I am thinking of working to 99 stitches in each section, then I don’t know if I want a yellow accent row – though more I think about it, the more I do – or a green accent row – which might not accent as much. Well, I have 24 more rows before I have to make that decision. I am thinking some kind of thicker purl bump row or a thin lattice row.

Future plans include tow more mixed section of 99 rows, separated by accent rows and then a decorative edge in mint green.

53 Miles West of Venus Wrap: Pattern

The name of this project – 53 Miles West of Venus by The B-52’s – is a random selection from my music library.

With so much going on lately, I forgot that I had promised to post the pattern for 53 Miles West of Venus Wrap. This thorn-shaped wrap has the distinction of increasing from the center, which creates a focal point. The shawl is worked in alternating front/back post double crochets and has a very elegant border, which is worked during construction. This shawl can be worn in many different ways, as noted in the original post.

The pattern can be purchased from My Pattern Page or from my Ravelry Store.
